Last October 2015 I was part of another amazing Discovery Programme – D57. What an awesome programme it was. Another group of teenagers came away with a bunch of strategies and an increased confidence to go out and learn. Whether that be at school, work, university, polytech, or any area of life where they want to learn new things.
If we looked at life as one big learning event then how do we generate the passion to keep learning every day?
On the Discovery 57 programme for the first time, I set up the Grand Master of Memory Certificate. If the teenagers and staff could memorise a set criteria of words, then they would be the Grand Masters of Memory for Discovery 57.
The criteria: The teens memorised 56 words from different lists within two days using the techniques taught. Ten of the teenagers and one Team Leader became the first Memory Masters of Discovery. Great job to you all.
One of the Brain Hack ideas I offered up on Discovery 57 was from Amy Cuddy from the Harvard Business School. Her presentation on Ted Talks supports one of the principle tools of the Discovery programme, that by changing our Physiology we can change our state and the way we think about life and different situations. The situation I spoke about on Discovery was how to get ourselves ready for tests, exams and assessments. Rather than me break it all down here, you can check out Amy’s Ted Talk. It’s awesome.
If you have a go at this I would love to hear how it goes.
If any teenagers out there are enjoying any successes with the learning Strategies I offered up on the Discovery Programme, we would love to hear about it. If you send us a blurb on what tool you used and where you used it and attach a photo of you, we can send it out as an inspirational story in following e-letters.
